1772 AD Construction of Military Barracks and the name of Barrackpore is believed to be from Barracks
1857 AD Sepoy Mutiny started from Barrackpore. Mangal Pandey the 1st martyr of the mutiny
1858 AD Barrackpore Sub-Division was constituted
1868 AD Palta Water Works started functioning
1869 AD North Barrackpore, the oldest Municipality in the Sub-Division was established
1905 AD Ichhapore Ordinance Factory was opened
1931 AD Netaji Subhas Ch. Bose was arrested at 5 P.M. on 11/03/1931 from Shyamnagar Chowrangee and was detained at Noapara Police Outpost for a day
1932 AD R.N.Tagore resided temporarily at Khardah Baganbari
